“A man who has not prepared his children for his own death has failed as a father.” King T’CHAKA said this to his son, T’Challa, or better known as The Black Panther. Both are fictional characters, but the message is real and it resonates very much with me.
It is one of the biggest worries that keep me sleepless at night, always wondered if I have taught my children enough, especially now that they are still too young to understand most of what I have to say to them. But do I wait until they are grown? I don’t know if I’ll live that long. Hence, I started to jot down short messages like what you’ll read here, that were for my children in case I have to leave this world too soon. I’m not preparing for my death yet, I’m just living as though I’m dying tomorrow.
